From April 22 through June 19 Palazzo strozzi will be displaying an exhibition by Liu Xiaodong, a chinese native whose works discuss the intersection of Tuscan culture and the east asian Immigrants who populate the countryside, and cities like Prato and Siena. The exhibition consists of paintings, drawings, and photographs by Xiaodong of the asian communities in these areas, and stemmed from Xiaodong’s time in Prato, which has a large and multi-generational Chinese population. Considering Europe’s migration crisis, Xaiodong’s Migrations is particularly relevant, and perhaps indicative of the future of Europe.
