Throughout the month of June, as part of the Estate Fiorentina 2016, Italy’s largest ‘interdisciplinary’ culture and arts festival, which lasts for 6 months from May through September, the Festival dei Popoli Documentary Film Festival will organize a series of open air film screenings in Piazza Santissima Annunziata under the title ‘New Italians’.
A day in the life of the keeper of the cemetery of Lampedusa; disagreement within the Ethiopian community over a fascist monument; a soccer team composed of migrants and Neopolitans; these are the stories that are told by three young Italian documentary filmmakers, who explore the theme of cultural and social integration in their country.
