All American students studying abroad in Florence are invited to participate in the Firenze Libo Aperto writing contest on the theme of bridging cultures.
Firenze Libro Aperto is an annual book fair that will take place at Florence’s Fortezza da Basso from September 28-30, 2018. The guiding theme this year is ‘Ponti’ (Bridges). The festival features presentations by writers, journalists, editors, and international and Italian artists and will also feature evening concerts and exhibitions of illustrations and comic books.
Students interested in participating in the writing contest can submit an essay (1500 words max) on their experiences of integration in Italy, focusing on a moment or moments when they truly started to connect with the locals, whether it be through a shared conversation or experience. Alternatively, students can write about their first impressions of Florence.
Three prizes will be awarded:
First prize is an all-expense paid weekend at a Tuscan hot spring
Second prize are three books of your choice (available in English) at the fair
Third prize is a free pass to three days of events, including concerts, of Firenze Libro Aperto
Submissions should be sent no later than September 20 to the following address:
